We have worked hard to re-format the "Globe". This has not been an easy project and seems to become more complicated each year. The costs have been reduced, but the demand for information is just as intense. The major problems stem from a failure of Sections to appoint Editors who will take the initative to write interesting descriptions of Section activities, make interesting photographs, and submit the information in a timely manner.

The Editor has imposed a 31 December deadline on all Sections for information. The Council supports this concept; the information will be for one year at a time and the Globe can be produced within six to eight weeks. It can be difficult for those Sections and Regions who have their meetings and convocations near the end of the year; but with the use of digital cameras the images can be transmittted directly to the Editor in a format that is suitable for printing and Web production. Also the copy can be transmitted by email and in a format that can be easily cut and pasted into the publication.

Robert E. Brady,
Secretary General
of the College

We all must try to assist the Editor as much as we can and to be as responsive to him as we possibly can so he can meet his publication deadlines.

Please do not wait until December 31 !! If a Section or Region has a meeting in a month other than December, develop the information and images and send them to the College Editor. This will allow him to place the information into the layout and to give it additional attention, leaving space for those meetings held toward the end of the year.

Working together we can keep our communications fresh and timely.

Robert E. Brady,
Secretary General, International College of Dentists

A Message from the Globe Editor

John V. Hinterman, D.D.S.
Michigan, USA
Editor of The Globe

Please assist in the production of the Globe, the Official publication of the International College of Dentists.

Contact your local Editor, Regent, Secretary General, or Officer with a reminder to submit digital photos and images along with electronic text before the deadlines of November 15, for Sections and Regions having meetings in the first 9 months of the year and January 15 for those meeting in the last Quarter.

Do Not Be Left Out
send to: JHinte5635@aol.com

Note: In 2005, the International Council passed a resolution to make the publications of the College "Revenue Neutral" by soliciting advertisements for the Globe. Each Section is requested to seek out those corporations and dental manufacturers who are willing to support the goals of the International College and urge them to subscribe to an ad in the Globe. In return, their name of their company will be identified on the ICD Web Site as a "Sponsor" and a link will be added to their company web site.

(Click to download the Brochure)

The ICD Web Site is seen by thousands of persons around the world and the Globe will be distributed to over 10,000 locations around the world to remain before the eyes of the dental world throughout the year.

This is tremendous exposure for a very nominal contribution.
